Dear Stephen, Andrea, Pam and Joe and Families
Please accept my sincere condolences on your Mother's passing.
I had the great privilege of meeting her through arts and politics.
I recall fondly many political events when your father, Premier Lougheed, stepped on stage to speak with Jeanne beside him.
She had a 'regal' presence and your father's first words were always to recognize and thank her.
Jeanne increased the stature of arts in Alberta, seeking opportunities to provide education and cultural experiences to Albertans of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities.
Her legacy is significant.
Respectfully,
Kate Thrasher
Our condolences to you, Stephen, Andrea, Pamela and Joe. We will always remember Jeanne with gratitude for the direction and opportunity she gave our family in Alberta. Your mother did for us what your father did for Alberta. They both showed loyalty, class, caring and vision to all. Thank you for sharing them with us. May they Rest In Peace. Jack and Mary O'Neill
Dear Stephen, Andrea, Pam and Joe,
My heartfelt sympathy to you and your families on the passing of your Mother Jeanne. I will always remember her with great fondness, and I often ran into your mom and dad when I came to Calgary to visit my mother. She was a wonderful neighbour, a truly accomplished woman, and a supporter of me during my youthful arts endeavours.
Thinking of you all during this time.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of your dear mother, Jeanne Lougheed in today's Globe and Mail. You can be sure that placing this notice in the national newspaper is much appreciated by the many citizens outside of Alberta that knew and admired her. I would not expect any of the Lougheed kids to remember me but, back in the mid 1970's, I was a member of a small corps of pilots that flew for the Alberta government when your dad was Premier....remember the King Air? On average, we had your dad on the plane about once per week...usually between Edmonton and Calgary. Very occasionally, we had your mom as passenger as well as your dad. I remember her as a very beautiful, kind and elegant person. By way of interest, I recall that the Lougheed kids came with their folks once or twice on events that your dad had to attend. Of course I was very young then...only a few years older than Steven!! We used to let young Joe (all of 8 years) sit in the co-pilot's seat. We all would remark what a sharp young fellow he was and what nice kids you all were. A tribute to your fine parents.
As you grieve and come to terms with the loss of your dear mom, I hope you are comforted by your many happy memories with her as well as the pride you must feel as the children of such wonderful and accomplished people. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Remember that her spirit burns bright within all of you.
Sincerely yours,
