Obituary of Lothar (Henry) KOPE

January 6, 1925 – Essen, Germany

December 29, 2020– Calgary, Alberta

Lothar (Henry) Kope, left this mortal coil on December 29, 2020 at the age of 95 years in peace, content in the knowledge he had accomplished all that he wanted to.

Henry was supported by his everlasting love, his wife, Mitzi.

Henry was a principled man of many skills and accomplishments.  He built a full and varied life; a soldier, teacher, salesman, accountant, student, farmer, diarist, poet, skier, author, actor, translator, musician.

He believed in education and knowledge, and taught at St. Francis of Assisi High School, Calgary for 28 years. He was an educational advocate, commissioner for oaths, blood donor, gracious host, engaged community and church member, a mentor, an adventurer, a compassionate thinker, a wonderful spouse, father and Opa.

“Build the person that you want to be and carry that with you in your heart, always.”

His family hold his memory dear; his wife Mitzi of 65 years; his son Harry (Beth), his daughter Leslie (d. 2020) and son-in-law Marc; and grandchildren, Christofer and Matthew (Emily) and Nina (Al) and Meghan (Ryan).  Henry got great pleasure from his great-grandchildren Everett and Olive - who danced to his piano playing.

Due to current restrictions a service will be limited to his closest family members. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Henry’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Henry Kope, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
