Obituary of Sarah ROACH

June 4, 1935 – Leitches Creek, Nova Scotia
December 4, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Sarah Roach, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Leitches Creek Cape Breton, NS. 

 Her first accounting job took her to Dartmouth NS in the early sixties where she worked for about fifteen years. In the early 1980’s she moved to Calgary and used her skills with an oil company until she retired. 
 
She loved to travel and Mexico was her favorite place to enjoy the sun. As an avid hiker especially after retirement she logged many miles with her friends exploring the mountains around Banff as well as doing some urban hiking on various Calgary pathways.

A talented woman with needle and thread Sarah lived her faith by being involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as President Calgary for about five years at two levels of the Society. She also delivered many food hampers to the needy in her ten years with St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also served with the Catholic Woman’s League for twenty years and various ministries in her parish, helping with evening prayers at funerals and reading at masses both Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings for St. Cecilia Parish.  Sarah was a welcoming woman with a sense of humor and a ready willingness to extend a helping hand.

 Sarah is survived by her two sisters and her brother. Sarah was predeceased by her parents, older sister, brother and nephew.
