Obituary of Kenneth James HEATLEY

November 15, 1933 – Hamilton, Ontario December 19, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Ken, beloved husband of the late Joan Monica Heatley (nee Carter) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in his sleep, in his own time, in his own way, he was very adamant about that. He is predeceased by his wife Joanie, she too did it her way. They were quite the pair. After spending a number of years in the PPCLI, he met Joanie. This tall good looking man in uniform swept her off her feet. There the adventure began; Victoria, Germany, Cypress, Edmonton and finally Calgary. Then a different journey in Warehousing where his organizational skills were put to the test. He enjoyed bowling both in leagues and for fun. When his “girls” decided to try it out, he was thrilled. He was an excellent dancer. He and mom loved to dance, and boy they were good. When it was our turn we would sit impatiently to see who got to dance with him first. Eventually he would dance with all of us. The first family vacation to Joanie’s homeland, Barbados proved to be a life long love of the “island” and all that is entailed. On behalf of the “Heatley Girls”, we would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to Dr. Matt Hensche and the staff at Seton Age Care for the kind and patient care dad received. A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
