Obituary of Adam Matthew BROWN

July 2, 1989 – Joliette, Quebec
January 2, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

It is with the deepest sadness that our beloved, Adam Matthew Brown, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 31 years.

Born in Joliette, QC, Adam was the surprise baby mom and dad never knew they wanted. He joined the family and as the years passed, it was apparent that he would be the comedian of the family. He spent countless hours entertaining his whole family with his jokes and quick wit. He somehow never knew he could decline our offer to dress him up or put on a show. When we moved to Calgary, AB, Adam attended Junior High at Father James Whelihan, where he met some of his most beloved and lifelong friends (and received his first infraction, urination on public transit shelter). He always made us laugh, even when he could not make it to a restroom.

Adam (surprisingly) graduated from Bishop O’Byrne High School, and gained even more great friends and memories. He enjoyed his drama classes, and we were certain he would be an actor.

Adam followed in his father and uncle John’s footsteps and joined in his passion for the Elevator Trade. He attended night school and we spent many nights quizzing him on very large books with complicated material. It all clicked and made sense to him as he went on to thoroughly enjoy a successful career with his International Union of Elevator Constructors (I.U.E.C.) Local 130 Brotherhood. He would spend countless hours telling us stories of cables and pulleys (many of which we could not understand, even with accompanying photos), but we would listen knowing he was completely passionate about his work with Otis Technologies.

Adam is lovingly survived by his mother Deby Dery (Daryle Davis), father Glenn Brown (Karen Branston); siblings, Stephanie Button (Christopher), Allison Brown (Korie Lafferty), Trevor Brown (Shantell Smith) and Taylor Brown; step-siblings, Sabrina Davis (Merlin), Amanda Davis (Jamie), Nicole Davis (Daniel) and Curtis Davis. Adam is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Brayden, Jamie, Jackson, Kenzie, Emerson and Emmett; as well as grandparents, uncles, aunts, countless friends and his beautiful cat Arya.

Adam loved to laugh and make other’s laugh. He would not want us to remain in our sadness for long. As such, we will be having a celebration of life sometime in the future when we can gather again. In his short time on this earth, he has touched so many people’s lives and we want everyone to have the opportunity to celebrate with us.

Adam, we love you and we will always carry the memory of you in our hearts.
