Obituary of Hallett SIDDALL

December 29, 1931 – Hamilton, Ontario
January 10, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

W. Hallett Siddall passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the age of 89 years. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Marjorie (nee Overholt) for 68 years.

Hal’s career in sales management with American Standard and later Westburne Plumbing took him and his family across the country from Burlington to Winnipeg, Calgary and Coquitlam, until he and Marj resettled in Calgary after retirement. Each time they moved, Hal and Marj threw themselves with gusto into making new friends and discovering all the city had to offer.

Hal was an enthusiastic participant in a number of interests and activities. Most notably, he was a very competitive lawn bowler in Calgary and California; and over time mentored many beginning bowlers. He was a familiar sight at the weekly coaching sessions at Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club. He usually played in all the club leagues, often winning top spot, and he represented Alberta at Nationals on SPLBC teams. His expertise in bowling was well known and most skips expected to have a battle on their hands when drawn against him. His familiar warning of “don’t be short” was often heard over the green, as was his friendly chat after the game while visiting on the patio.

Hal was the wonderful father of Greg (Anita) and Susanne Arnold (Dave); and proud grandfather of Lindsay, Casey, Ben and Zoë and their partners; as well as two great-grandchildren (plus one on the way). Hal is also survived by his sister Maxine Billiald of Ontario.

Please offer Hal a toast with a glass of your preferred beverage and remember this dear man. In accordance with Hal’s wishes and because of pandemic protocol, his ashes will be scattered by his family and no service is planned. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Hal’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank Society, 5000 – 11 Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2Y5, Telephone: (403) 253-2059, www.calgaryfoodbank.com.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff on Units 58 and 59 at the Peter Lougheed Centre for their kindness and excellent care.

In living memory of Hallett Siddall, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
