Obituary of Ella ROMAN (nee Toderian)

December 25, 1930 – Endeavour, Saskatchewan

January 19, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ella Roman passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. She was born in 1930 on the family farm near Endeavour, SK to John and Mary (Pishavitch) Toderian. Ella moved to Toronto in 1948 where mutual friends introduced the pretty, effervescent sales clerk (she even got her picture in the newspaper during a sales event ) to a dashing ex-Merchant Navy man. A bond was struck and they became inseparable. Ella and Bill Roman were married on June 7, 1952 and they moved to Calgary soon after.

Ella was a member of APEGGA Women’s Club (Engineers’ Wives Club) for forty-one years. She was an avid golfer, curler and bowler. Ella and Bill relocated to Holland for two years and then travelled around the world as Bill was doing safety audits for Shell - he worked, she explored. A fondest memory of hers was golfing in the Oman desert, where players were provided a small piece of carpeting for “fairway play”…

Ella is survived by her sister Anne Solotki, sister-in-law Mary Fury, children, Keith Roman (Wendy) and Carol Hughes (Brian); daughter-in-law Nadine, and grandchildren, Arden Hughes, Leland Roman, Davis Roman, and Diana Roman. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill, her siblings, Victoria, Lena, Doris and Andy; and her son Kenneth Roman.
