Condolences
Dear Darlene and Dayle,
I was deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing and hope you are navigating your way through these difficult times. I will miss John at the lake and know that his memories will live on in all of us. I loved his geraniums at the trailer that he kept alive year after year. I will miss his helpful hand and gentle heart. Much love The Arns
I was saddened to learn of John's passing. John was a valued customer of ours at Crossley/ Tandus flooring. Always meticulous in his quality of work, John had a loyal following of customers. He was extremely respected within the flooring industry. John always had an opinion and always offered his counsel when needed. John was a true character with the highest of integrity. He loved to tell a story and enjoyed a good laugh.
My condolence to Darleen and the Tomlinson family.
Darlene, Dayle and family we were so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was such a fixture at Campland, he surely will be missed.
Will always remember his fishing stories especially about his favourite spot Babine. Sending you our heartfelt condolences on your loss.

To Darleen, Dayle and Family---my deepest condolences on the recent passing of husband, father, grandpa and friend--John.
His stories and altruism towards fellow man will be missed, but fondly remembered by the many folks he interacted with over the years. We worked together at Jordan's Contract Sales as part of a team that shared laughter, challenges and the opportunity to supply and install flooring to a variety of both residential and commercial properties / individuals and businesses. John and I spent many hours doing estimating of blueprints and bidding jobs, He also coached me in product knowledge and sales after my many years of flooring installation. It was never dull and I admired his strong work ethic and family values. We had many zany conversations on the psychology and philosophy of life, intermingled with his absorption for the aeronautical, historical , nautical,
automobile , flooring industries.
I fondly remember: company barbeque at Kannanaskis, John helping me fix my choke on the van. Visiting out at Lakeshore and sipping good scotch till the wee hours of the morning while playing guitar and singing Beach Boy tunes with family (I slept well on the floor of the trailer that night). It was a pleasure to have socialized with you and the girls too Darleen, as you all were most welcoming. John will be missed
Kindest regards to you and the family and strength to deal with this difficult time. John Ody
Darleen, Dayle, Darcy and grandchildren we are sorry to hear of John’s passing. Lakeshore will surely miss a man who shared many a story on his journey around the trailers. Please accept our kindest condolences. Greg and Patti Clement
Darlene, Dayle and Family,
We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of John in your lives. He was such an easy-going and good natured man who had all the time for anyone. We loved hearing his stories, experiences and tickling sense of humour and these are just a few of the positive things that John gave us that we will dearly miss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Darleen. The Harper’s are so sorry for you and your girls on the loss of John. It is hard to accept the loss of John even for myself as we spent so many working years together. Cuddle up with your girls and remember all the good times we all shared. He was a good man and spent many years in the carpet flooring industry and carpeted practically every tower in down town Calgary. He proved to many how good he was in estimating, in choosing the right commercial grade of carpet for the floors and was able to have the best known carpet installers to do his jobs. Thanks John from all of us who worked with you and for you. We all had good years in the carpet industry in Calgary and in the towers that were built in downtown Calgary, weee it was fun days then. Thanks and God Bless You
Darleen, Dayle and all the family, my sincere condolences to you on John’s passing. He was always friendly and welcoming to me on my visits to the lake. Lakeshore will not be the same without his presence.
Lots of love to you all,
Bee Cuthbertson
Darleen - We were very sad to hear of John's passing - he was such a kind man and will be missed. Sending you and your family our deepest condolences. Darren, Donna & Brody Vasseur
Guys, Sandra and Bob Harper called me to let me know. Sorry to hear that John has left us. I will always remember the camping together as kids! Such a very good friend to mom. Someone she has missed dearly since they moved first out the lake and then to the Island. All my best to you as you work through this difficult time, only made more complicated by not being able to get together with friends and family, as you say our good buys. Keep safe, be well, and let us know if you get together at some point. Be nice to see ya.
Darlene, Dayle and all of John's family....Frank and I were sorry to hear about John's death. He is a part of our Lake experience, "John's arrived...lake season has started." Chats with him were part of our loop walks and he entertained with
stories of the things he had done...he had done a lot! I remember watching him head out in the fog early early in the morning to fish, that takes dedication, and describing his fly tying techniques. He is there in many wonderful memories. We will miss him.

Carrie the kids and I were sorry to hear that John had passed. Walking the loop at Lakeshore won't be the same. As Chloe said he was like a mythical character at the lake. A mainstay of lakeshore life. He will be missed.
Darlene, Dayle, and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. As a family, we have many fond memories of John out at the lake. From our daughter's catching fish with his prized flies, to the many sailing stories he loved to share with my husband. We will miss him on our walks down to the beach, where he was always ready to greet you with a smile and a story. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

I met John in 1977 who was my future wife's uncle. We got along famously having conversations about fishing and hot rodding. John was famous for his scotch and non stop conversation topics which ranged from his adventures as a child in Brazil, his work on aircraft, sailing his Fireball and the huge fish that did not get away at Babine resort in B.C. I'm sure ,on some chilly evening at the lake by the fire we might hear John's voice whispering in on a conversation. We will miss you John.
He was a great man and it was a privilege to know him. Our hearts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.
I am sad to hear that John has passed. I vividly recall the many years of working with John when I was with Peerless Carpet and then Shaw. We spent many enjoyable visits discussing not only business but, also many topics like flying and aircraft. John was a gentleman and always gracious. My condolences to all of his family.
Fred Rabiner.
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of John, He was a very loyal business associate and I appreciated his support. He always took a interest in my son David’s flying career and we had great conversation. John was a legend in the flooring industry. His knowledge was beyond ones imagination. Rest well John and you will be missed. Jerry Spevakow
