Obituary of Joan HUNTER

Joan Hunter was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the age of 78 years.

Joan loved life to the fullest.  She had a strong Christian faith and was a long-time member of the Ozada Flats Church where she loved to dedicate her time volunteering at camp meetings.  She was an active member of Chiniki Elders Advisory Group, which assisted Chief and Council through advocating strong community support and well-being. Joan had strong family values and loved nothing more than spending time with her children and family. She was always supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, and would often attend their hockey games and other events.  

Joan is survived by her children, Kevin Hunter (Lola), Amy Thunder (Calvin), Bryleen Holloway (Randy), Aaron Young, Marcel Soto (Jenny), Irvin Rabbit (Linda), Darryl Sittingeagle (Lorriane), Margaret Simeon (Patrick), Tilda Stevens (Audley), Carrie Twins (Barry), Rhonda Wildman (Hirren), Geraldine Powderface; her grandchildren, Eric Hunter (Michelle), Kalena Young (Lance), Ashley Hunter, Ashton Twins, Chad Hunter, Teslynn Hunter, Alex Hunter, Jack Simeon, Brett Hunter, Shansa Hunter (Colton), Isaiah Hunter,  Josie Daniels, Rope Daniels, Jeremy Hunter,  Kailee Hunter, Noah Hunter, Matty Hunter, Brianna Holloway; her great-grandchildren, Annabelle Young-Hunter, Bobby Young-Hunter, Emma Hunter, Chyenne Hunter, Addison Hunter, Elisa Hunter, Persaius Hunter, Josaius Hunter, Emersyn Hunter, Ezra Hunter, Ella Hunter, Brooklyn Holloway, Teresa Hunter, Lazurus Twins, Anthony Twins, and Ashlyn Twins; her great-great-grandchild Jazlyn Hunter, her brothers, Jeff House (Evelyn) and Watson Kaquitts; and her sisters, Barbara Hunter, Georgie Kaquitts, Donna Kaquitts, Alice Kaquitts, and Elnora Scalplock.  We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Joan was predeceased by her son Brian Hunter, daughter Rosie Hunter, grandsons, Kevin Jamie Hunter, Tergeon Daniels; and great-grandson Joncee Hunter.
