Obituary of Jean Christina BISSELL

February 18, 1936 – Calgary, Alberta
January 13, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Jean was born to Eveleen and Charles Garvie. She and her brother George grew up in the heart of Calgary. Jean married her husband and raised her children there also.

Jean made many enduring friendships from her school days, through her community, and her work in the “Oilpatch”.

When Jean retired, she found her piece of heaven on earth in a little cabin across from a golf course, by the lake in Fauquier, BC. The cabin quickly became a gathering place for all. Jean welcomed every opportunity to share her view of the golf course and lake. She loved spending time with family and friends, relaxing in the hot springs, at the beach, boat rides, golfing, gardening, skiing, game nights, birthdays, anniversaries, and bonfires. We are thankful for all the special days we enjoyed together.

Jean loved animals - riding horses well into her 70’s and caring for dogs and cats. She loved spectating and participating in sports. Swimming, bowling, golf, baseball, curling, hockey, football, tennis……

Jean also enjoyed travelling, at the beginning with her children in tow and then later with her adventurous and younger friend. She always looked forward to their next destination.

Jean will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen (Karen), Judy (Lee) and Garvie; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Jean was predeceased by her husband Dobby and her brother George.

Jean will be laid to rest at the Fauquier Cemetery at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Jean’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Jean, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
