Obituary of Allan Webster LAWTHER

Allan W.  Lawther, beloved husband of Dorothy Lois Lawther (nee Craig) of Airdrie, AB, passed away in Calgary, on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the age of 94 years, after a brief illness.

Allan was born on January 22, 1927 in Arrowwood, AB, to John and Mildred Lawther.

Allan married Dorothy Lois Craig in 1953 and pursued a career in finance; working to a position as bank manager, then as an accountant at a private business.

Allan was an avid curler; enjoyed travelling and cruising. He was over 70, when he learned to dance as part of the Balzac dance club. He also loved playing cards, doing puzzles, even learned to use his iPad.

Allan was actively involved in his community being a member of Crossfield Masonic Lodge since 1966. He belonged to the Men’s Community Club, Lions Club and did the books for many community groups.

Besides his wife of sixty-seven years, Dorothy, Allan is survived by his daughter Debbie Burke; sons, Glen Lawther (Bettyann) and Brenton Lawther (Shannon); seven grandchildren, Derrick Dewitt, Bonnie Skelling (Dany), Scott Dewitt (Dannielle), Carleen Lawther (Mike) , Greg Lawther (Erin), Megan Lawther and Kylee Lawther and five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Lawther, Audrey Lawther, Scarlett Lawther, Aspen McKenzie and Logan Lawther McKenzie.

He was predeceased by his brother John, his sister Lenore and his loving dog, Allie.

A private Service will be held for family on February 9th at 1:30. Due to coronavirus restrictions, there will be no visitation or public Memorial Service held. Family and friends are invited to join Allan’s service streamed live on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
