Obituary of Robert DAVISON

January 31, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Robert Davison, beloved husband of Barbara Davison (nee Dawson), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the age of 81 years.

Robert Davison was born at the Leazes, Stanley, County Durham, England on September 3rd 1939.  After serving his apprenticeship as a draughtsman, he moved to Schwarazach in Austria in 1962, to work and returning to England in late 1963. Robert immigrated with his family to Winnipeg, MB in 1970, then to Calgary, AB in 1975.
He moved from Calgary to Tauranga, New Zealand in 1979, returning to Calgary later that year, before moving to Strathmore, AB in 2002. Robert married Barbara (Nee Dawson) in County Durham, England in 1967. 

Robert had a passion for many of the arts, among his hobbies being photography, sketching, painting and wood carving. He was also a self-taught musician and could play the organ, guitar, tin flute, accordion and Bodhram (Irish) drum while building his own flutes and drums. He will be most remembered for his kindness, gentleness and willingness to help anyone. He really enjoyed visitors who appreciated his love of whiskey and was always happy to pour a glass, so no one drank alone.

Besides his loving wife, Robert is survived by his two daughters, Carol Martin, of Calgary, AB and Katherine Davison of County Durham, England; and two grandsons, Robert Martin, and Andrew Martin, of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his brother James Davison of Croydon, Surrey, UK as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Ruth (Lidell) Davison; brother Alan Davison and four sisters, Ruth Ketchin, Vera Morris, Doris Davison and Eileen Weallans and their spouses Norman, William and Joseph.
