Obituary of Anne TRYLINSKI

TRYLINSKI, Anne (nee Chernichen)
December 16, 1923 – Fort William, Ontario
January 31, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Anne Trylinski of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the age of 97 years.

Known to many as “Baba” (Ukrainian for grandmother), the nickname became one used by many. You did not have to be her grandchild to be provided with her warmth, care, and advice. She was a passionate, extremely intelligent, wise, and loving person. A true matriarch of the family.

Beginning university at the age of fifty, she successfully completed a degree in Political Science and French Language Arts. Education was very important to her as she guided all of her children and grandchildren to successful completion of their post-secondary education as well.

Baba was a remarkably talented artist and musician, and had one of her paintings showcased in the Glenbow Museum of Arts in the 1990s. She played the mandolin all of her life and created a chamber music trio with Anastasia and Lara, who played cello and violin.

All that knew her, can confidently say that Baba never skipped a beat. Even on her final days with us she was alert, witty, and asking her favourite question “So, what’s new?”

Anne is survived by her children, Janice Trylinski (Thomas Lynch), Timothy Trylinski, and Susan Trylinski. She was a loving Baba to her granddaughters, Anastasia (Adam), Lara (Alex), and Alexandra (Arthur). Anne is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Kay Zukowsky and Louise Malegus; nieces and nephews, Lesley Pshyk, Marilyn Pshyk, Diane Trylinski, Tony Romanow, Gerald Trylinski, Darlene Trylinski, Claudia, Lorraine, Cathy and BJ Zukowsky, Ross, Ken and Peter Malegus, Tim, Margaret, and Tom Romanow and their families; as well as many other extended family members. She leaves her many beloved friends, Meldy de la Cruz, Kent Bancroft, Peace Onwuchekwa, Ascencion, Nancy Rodgers, and Anenne Kejela. Anne was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, Zygmunt Trylinski.

Anne leaves behind her faithful canine companion, Beans, who brought her nearly a decade of joy, laughs, and comfort. Beans will be very well looked after - as we now have to provide treats for her before bed every night!

She will be deeply, deeply missed, and never forgotten. Rest in Peace Baba, we all love you so much.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Anne’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. The family is extremely grateful to Drs. Webster and Wahba, the staff on Unit 46 at the Foothills Hospital, and Baba’s home care team for all their thoughtful care.

In living memory of Anne Trylinski, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
