Zea BLACK

Obituary of Zea Necole BLACK

July 25, 1974 - St. John's, Newfoundland
February 3, 2021 - Airdrie, Alberta

Zea Black passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Airdrie, AB, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the age of 46.

After two years of battling stage IV breast cancer, Zea is no longer in any pain. Despite struggling with cancer, Zea had an extraordinary zest for life. With this, she became an avid baker and gardener in her later years. She was a wonderful singer and musician, a gifted painter, and a talented dancer throughout her life. Zea had a magnetism about her, a silly sense of humour, and was well known for her great beauty. She was very giving and would open her home to anyone who needed it. Zea had a long career as a professional hairstylist and had a dream of attending Chinese Medicine School, later in life. However, she was most proud of being a mother to her three children. Born and raised in St. John’s, NL, she loved the ocean and dreamed of going to Hawaii. Zea had a big heart, a beautiful soul, and brought life to every room she entered. She will be deeply mourned and missed by all that knew her.

Zea is survived by her devoted partner of five years, Brad Sucee. She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Mariah (Mike), Shekirra (Ashton), and Phoenix (Ocean); and her grandchildren, Zennon and Zaiden. She will also be missed by her mother Valerie (George), her father John, her sister Neshira (Darryl), her brother Coan (Janet), her nephew Carter, her niece Jaja, as well as all her other family, friends, and neighbours from Alberta and Newfoundland. Zea was predeceased by her grandparents, Eileen and Roger Healey; Audrey Tulloch (Robert), Harry Black, and her dear family friend Nancy Lane.

A Celebration of Zea’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. A larger Funeral Service will take place in St. John’s, NL when Covid restrictions ease (date and time to be announced). Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Zea’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
