Eduardo "Lalo" MARIN

Obituary of Eduardo "Lalo" Alfonso MARIN

June 25, 1972 – Santiago, Chile

February 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Lalo beloved husband to Devri Marin (nee Hulbert), bonus dad to Kaycee L. Rowley of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the age of 48 years.

Eduardo (Lalo) Marin was a dedicated husband, step dad, uncle, brother, and son. He was a genuine soul, a wild child at heart, living with the love of life and the lack of shame. Born in Santiago Chile, Lalo was quickly recognized as a mischievous child, keeping his beautiful parents Norma and Eduardo on their toes. As he grew older Lalo became known for his larger than life personality and joy for life. A self-described 8-foot gorilla softy in a 5’10 frame. The most important things to him were family and friends. He never missed an opportunity to tell you he loved you or that you were on his mind.  He was a proud man who relished in the riches of this life, which included love, laughter, kindness, and gratitude.

On March 12, 2018 Lalo suffered the sudden loss of his baby brother Max. In true warrior fashion Lalo leapt into action. Despite his intense grief he took over Canuckles MMA as lead instructor, mentoring, training, and coaching athletes of all kind. A true sensei in every sense of the word. Working alongside Lindsey, Max’s wife, he proudly kept the Marin Mixed Marital Arts legacy alive. Max and Lalo had an inseparable bond as brothers.

Lalo built his life off a strong family foundation where he talked about how his upbringing shaped him into the man he became. Lalo’s legacy will live on forever through his family and friends. And while those here on earth grieve this tremendous loss Lalo was called to fulfill another journey among the great angels that watch over us, Abuelita Maria y Adriana, Max, Rod, Rob and Grady.
