Obituary of Cecelia “Intah” Burva WESLEY-MANYWOUNDS

June 25, 1967 – Canmore, Alberta
January 31, 2021 – Siksika, Alberta

Cecelia Burva “Intah” Wesley-Manywounds of Morley, AB left us peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the age of 53 years.

Cecelia will be remembered for her compassion, kindheartedness and tremendous love and devotion to those she loved dear to her heart. She was always found helping out whenever anyone needed a hand. Cecelia was a very proud Mom and Ena. She believed in her cultural ways and traditional teachings and was well known for her dry meat and bannock and also enjoyed round dances, and ceremonies.

In her younger years she would call Eden Valley home; with her parents, Sharon Rider and Reginald Lefhand. She would excel in numerous sports and rodeo events: baseball, volleyball, basketball, goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing, steer riding, etc. Cecelia would also become a Little Britches Rodeo Princess, but to her family she was an all-around cowgirl. She enjoyed entering talent shows and was also a Fancy Dancer. She learned cooking, sewing and dry meat cutting from her mom Sharon.

Soon after the age of eighteen she came to Tsuut'ina where she started her own family, raising her five children, and was then blessed with eighteen, soon to be nineteen grandchildren.

After raising her children Cecilia would return to school and received her diploma in 2010 from the Bullhead Adult Education Centre. She worked as a cook with the First Nations School where she could be closer to her grandchildren. Cecelia devoted her time to anything and everything her children and grandchildren participated in. She was proud of the family she created. The once little family she had was now big. She was so full of life and laughter. Her family would like everyone to remember her for everything special she was to everyone.

Cecelia is survived by her children, Trevor (Stephanie), Racquel (Teak), Denny Sr.(Erin), Rayshel (Clovis Sr.), Sherman Jr. (Linnea), and sons she helped raise, Brock and Jojo; her grandchildren, Dante, Rio, Cellia, Kaiden, Reagan, Shayne, Darion, Dayton, Keirra, Audrena, Audreaus, Kayne, Cianna, Denny Jr., Kayla, Clovis Jr., Mary and Veronica; her brother-in-law, Shane; her sisters-in-law, Sharon, Livia and Laura; her sisters, Frances, Tanya, Leona, Berv, Barb and Marlene; and her brothers, Morley, Reggie, Nelson, and Howard; her uncle, Claude Left Hand; and her aunties, Mary Jane Beaver and Annie Wesley. Cecelia will also be lovingly remembered by her extended families, Wesley, Beaver, Crawler, Lefthand, Stevens, Shortneck, Dixon and Manywounds; numerous nieces and nephews she loved and adored, and many special cousins and friends.

Cecelia was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Paul Wesley and Susan Lefthand; paternal grandparents, Morley Beaver and Jane Crawler; her parents, Issac Beaver and Veronica Wesley, Reginald and Sharon Lefthand; brothers, Terry John, Victor and Lee Patrick; her uncle and auntie, John and Ena Weyo; her husband Sherman Sr.; father and mother-in-law, Francis and Laurette Manywounds; and son-in-law Darryl Labelle; and her baby grandchild.

A private Funeral Service will be held with a graveside Service to follow at Tsuut’ina Cemetery (Tsuut’ina Nation, AB). Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Ceceila’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
