I am so very sorry for the loss of “Mr. Pidgeon”... his family and mine were connected closely through the PPCLI after we returned from Germany in 1973, 74 (?) we lived close together in SW Calgary.... I often walk through our old neighbourhood... and thought of his family and mine just yesterday as I was walking.
I remember his huge smile; and him making every person feel as though they were the only person in the room.
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences at His passing.
Our world is a poorer place without him in it.
Blessings;
Dawn
Joan and Family -My deepest condolences on Johns passing. Sincerely Eleanor Reid
Joan, we are truly sorry for your loss. We have many memories of the good, fun times spent with you and John. Friday mornings will never be the same AND who will take over John's job of straightening the pictures?!
Sorry for your loss Joan, he will be missed in the Village.
He shared his wine, his smile and a wave as he walked by
My dog liked him so that means he was a good fellow.
I wish you well as you carry on without John

Dear Joan...We’re going to miss John. He was a shark at crib, no one could add up crib points like him, he was a very good pool player, fine wine maker, master potato cooker and a good friend to all. Dave and Marta Sarles
Sorry for the loss. I met Uncle John once in The 70’s when he came down to Windsor to visit the family
Dear Joan and family, we so enjoyed our time with John. A great crib player, and Lee always had fun playing pool with John. One of the best things that came from John were his boiled potatoes. They were delicious. He was very proud of making up a big pot of potatoes to bring to our summer dinners at the Village. John always had a smile and a warm hello for us. Sending hugs to Joan and family. Rest well dear friend.
Joan and the entire Pidgeon Family - I write to express to you and the family the sincere condolences of the Patricia’s on the passing of Sergeant (Ret'd) John Pidgeon, CD. I do not think I ever got to meet John, as our periods of service only briefly overlapped. His story is a good one, and he seemed to love helping people.
The Regiment remembers John's service, and you and the family I am sure are proud of that service. His name will be read in this year’s list of the lost when we read that out on November 11th, 2021 in the Sacred Space in Beechwood, the National Military Cemetery, Ottawa. His name will also be listed in the 2021 edition of the Patrician’s Last Post section.
Should any of John's family want to maintain a connection with the Regiment, a gratis three year Memorial Membership in the PPCLI Association is available. Contact Mr Herb Kenny, the Membership Chairman, at hkenny@shaw.ca, for details.
Thank you all.
Brigadier-General Vince Kennedy (Retired)
Colonel of the Regiment
Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry
Condolences to Joan and the family from us both. John was a very welcoming neighbour when we moved two doors down from him and Joan in Dreamview Village Riverbend three years ago. We very much appreciated the first invitation to share Canada Day on his and Joan's driveway, to sample a glass of his homemade wine and meet our new neighbours Subsequently we learned that John and Frank had been posted to CFB Baden-Solingen together at the same time. We wish you luck as we wave you goodbye on your next journey John.
