Obituary of Tammy Tina-Marie Flora FLEMING (nee Hall)

June 28, 1971 – Eckville, Alberta
January 29, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Tammy Tina-Marie Flora Fleming of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of 49 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was an incredibly strong and selfless woman.

Tammy was born in Eckville, AB, on June 28, 1971.  She grew up near Rocky Mountain House, AB, and spent most of her life in Central Alberta.  She briefly lived in Grande Prairie, AB, before moving back to Eckville to raise her family.   She moved to Calgary in 2017.

Tammy attended Red Deer College, where she received a diploma in Accounting.  Accounting is what she did as a career, but this wasn’t how she identified herself.

Tammy was an avid yoga practitioner – it was how she stayed healthy and centred.  She obtained her certification, and began teaching yoga.  She combined this with her drive to help others: she experienced more gratification instructing and helping others out with yoga, than practising it herself.

Tammy loved being outside.  Whether it was hiking, paddle boarding, yoga, or gardening, she took every opportunity she could to be at one with nature.

Tammy didn’t have many opportunities to fly, but her most memorable vacation was when she took her three sons on a plane to the Dominican Republic.  She had always wanted to take longer trips, and loved hot weather.

One of Tammy’s favourite places in the world was Osoyoos, BC.  She spent many summer and fall vacations here, as it combined her love of the heat, nature, paddle boarding and yoga with one of her favourite indulgences – wine!

We can’t remember Tammy without mentioning her love of camping.  Her absolute favourite spot to camp was Twin Lakes.  The best way she could think of to spend a summer’s day was to take a good book out on her paddle board to soak up the sun.

Tammy is survived by her three sons, Levi, Wyatt, and Grayden of Eckville, AB.  Her sons will continue to care for her cherished pets, Jasper, and especially Duke. Tammy is also survived by her father Clement, and mother Gemma of Rocky Mountain House, AB; her three younger brothers, Glen of Rocky Mountain House, AB, Rob of Midland, TX, and Melvin of Provost, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her boyfriend Rick misses her dearly.

A Private Service will be held. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Tammy’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Tammy Fleming, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
