Obituary of Beatrice Susanna COLBOURNE

November 11, 1924 – St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda

January 15, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Beatrice Colbourne, beloved wife of  the late Theodore Brown, of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the age of 96 years.

Beatrice was born in Freemans Ville, in the parish of St Peter, in the Island of Antigua on November 11, 1924. She emigrated from Antigua in 1970. She immigrated to Canada in 1970 and became a Canadian Citizen on September 12, 1977. She moved to St Thomas, US Virgin Islands in 1988.

Beatrice married Theodore Brown in 1989.

Beatrice enjoyed watching wrestling and CNN.

Beatrice is survived by her only son, Norris Abbott better known as Pat and his wife Terry Abbott of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; 4 grandchildren including grandson Orson Abbott and wife Yvette, granddaughters Julie Abbott and Cathy Abbott of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Koren Abbott-Winter and husband Hubert Winter of Antigua, West Indies; 10 great-grandchildren, Chermeke Merchant, Taurean Merchant, Greenwood Cornell, Orion Abbott, Rilon Abbott, Silar Abbott, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Jarren Phillips of The Bronx, New York, Khaneese Phillips of Conyers, GA, Cory Winter and Kristian Winter, Antigua, West Indies; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Demekea Francis, Zokarra Francis and LeDane Merchant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Beatrice is also survived by her 1st daughter-in-law Cora Abbott-Tracey; nephews Alexander Walton Colbourne of Antigua, Filgel “Smokie” Colbourne of Rochester, NY, Stedman Colbourne, Purcell John of the UK, Paul John, Gilbert Mellanson and Patrick Mannix, Canada; nieces Audrey Abbott-Mannix, Hillarine Colbourne, Ida King, Sharon Colbourne, Jeanette Colbourne, Aleta “Lecter” Colbourne, Nellie Mellanson-Martin and Family, Elaine Mellanson Cools-Lartigue & Family, Janevie Payne-Gofer & Family and Jacqueline Mannix-Labrada & Family; as well as numerous cousins, and friends Sashinette Harrigan, Primrose Benjamin, Mildred Burke, Hyacinth Martin, Esther Brown & Family in NY, Myrna Hosea in NY, Denzel Shaw in Antigua, Naomi Williams & Family, Neril Brown; Godson Austin Richard and many more, too numerous to mention.

Beatrice was predeceased by spouse Theodore Brown, parents Azariah Colbourne and Susanna Cecilia Henry-Colbourne, brothers Joseph Colbourne, Percy Colbourne, Aaron Massiah Colbourne and Samuel Colbourne and sisters Celestina Colbourne-John, Arid Mathilda Colbourne-Mannix, Miriam Colbourne-Mellanson, and friend Tina Benjamin.
