Obituary of Rowena Ang KELTS (nee Lanete)

April 10, 1967 - Cebu City, Philippines
February 11, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Rowena Kelts of Calgary, AB passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at the age of 53 years.

Rowena was born in Cebu City, Philippines on April 10, 1967.  She immigrated to Coronation, AB in 1987 and married Leland the same year.

Rowena graduated from Cambrooks College with a Pharmacy Assistant certificate.  Although she accomplished much throughout her life, Rowena was particularly proud of her children, Cody, Denny and Christine.

Rowena enjoyed playing bingo. She also loved going out and spending quality time with her friends. Some of her favourite activities were singing karaoke and dancing. Her beautiful smile would light up any room she would enter. Her positive energy would radiate like a full moon on a dark night.

She was blessed enough to have met her two beautiful grandchildren, Lila and Athena. Lila and Rowena had a special connection. You could hear it in Lila’s voice every time she called for her nana. Her life was devoted to her children, as Rowena would do anything in her power to make sure her kids were happy and safe.

Rowena received a double lung transplant in December 2014. She showed strength not only in her preparation but also post-surgery as well. She was in and out of the hospital for over ten years and always had a smile on her face. Rowena had shown her family true resilience throughout adversity.

Rowena will be most remembered for her strength, courage, beautiful smile, sense of humour, laughter, resilience, and love for her family.

Besides the father of her children Leland, Rowena is survived by her sons, Cody and Denny; her daughter Christine, and her two beautiful granddaughters, Lila and Athena; all of Calgary, AB.

Rowena is also survived by her four brothers, Michael, Jogi, Doby and Charle, of the United States and the Philippines; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rowena was predeceased by her mother Yolanda and Father Felix.
