Obituary of Francis (Frank) Norman WALLACE

October 11, 1937 – Roblin, Manitoba

February 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Frances (Frank) Norman Wallace, 83, of Crossfield Alberta, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021, at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, AB.

Frank was born on the family farm in Roblin, MB to Florence and William Wallace on October 11, 1937. He left home early to join his three older brothers, building the highways that we still drive on throughout Alberta. He met the love of his life, Lois Jeannette Poulson, in July of 1958 at the Calgary Stampede and they were married the following March. They had many adventures together, including having several of the Stampede Wrestlers live with them, working the greenhouse for Petersen Brothers and spending every weekend at the Poulson family farm. They welcomed their first child, Pamula Dawn in 1962, followed by Darcy William in 1965. Frank worked as a delivery driver and installer for White’s Stationary and then spent many years with RGO and ALCO. His real love was always the farm and he was always available whenever there was baling, swathing or combining to be done. He never said no to any of our numerous family pets and there was a lot, big and small. Frank and Lois bred and showed the most beautiful St. Bernard’s in Western Canada and had many champions come through their kennel gates. Many adventures were to be had at dog shows around the country and many friends were made. Frank never met a stranger because they always became his friends. After they left the farm, Frank and Lois moved into Calgary and then onto Claresholm, which is where they lived when Lois passed. Wanting to be closer to his family, Frank moved to Crossfield so he could be handy whenever needed at Darcy & Ginette’s acreage. He was a fixture at his grandkid’s hockey games, baseball games, horse shows and events. He tried to attend each one and was a loud and enthusiastic fan.

Frank is survived by his daughter Pamula Sando and her husband Paul; son Darcy and his wife Ginette; grandchildren, Matt & Anna Liisa Sando, Glenn & Amber Sando, Chloe Sando & Adrianna Bonutti, Stephen & Katy Wallace and Sarah & Kevin Kuntz; his loving great-grandchildren Ronan Sando, Cayden Sando and Banks Wallace; and step-great-grandchildren, Claire, Kennadie, and Kharington Kuntz.  Frank is also survived by his brother Dave, sisters, Agnes Groves and Florence Miller; sisters-in-law, Linda and Heidi; and brother-in-law Burt Groves. He has numerous, loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lois, parents, Florence and William; brothers, William and Tom; and sister Barbara.

A Memorial for Frank will be held when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, so his many friends can celebrate his long and meaningful life with his family. Memorial donations may be made directly to the Bear Valley Rescue at http://bearvalleyab.org/tribute-giving.html or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at the PLC Unit 53 for their care and attention.

In living memory of Frank Wallace, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
