I met Jess while studying at TRU. He always had a smile on and a joke to provide, even during the toughest and most stressful times. His positive personality was infectious. My condolences to the Bray family.
I was sad to learn of Jess's passing. I remember him vividly. He was very bright and a pleasure to work with. He was a special part of his class at TRU. My condolences to the Bray family.
Jess Bray was that special guy that everybody knew and everyone loved. Charismatic, handsome, hilarious, bursting with goofy energy, super athlete, life of the party...there aren’t enough words. He would be the one to pull you off your seat to dance like Justin Timberlake, shamelessly sing at the top of his lungs to girly pop songs, buy you and everyone drinks with his hard earned money he just slaved for waiting on tables. An incredibly generous person he cared about all his friends having a good time or from a deeper way how they were doing. I’ve had many late nights talking to him about hard life issues and he’s the one to reply to your text within seconds. There wasn’t a problem too small or too big that he wouldn’t have a heart to heart. A quick wit that served him well as a lawyer also gave him a hell of sense of humour. Widely known as the most competitive person in our circles, he would do anything to win- at everything. What is so contrastingly unique is he often had his arm wrapped around a friend with love and empathy. Every guy’s bro and every girls crush, adored with a strong gravity. He was exceptional and one of a kind. He did not miss out of much, he managed to do everything and be everywhere that called his name. Worked like a dog, partied harder, road trips, coaching baseball, winning at every league in every sport, insane hours practicing law, and spending time with all those friends and family. In these short 29 years he easily lived a hundredths worth. Since Jr. high he was my brother- we grew up together and were inseparable. I looked up to him immensely, just a year older and twice my size he truly took my under his wing. A man of honour- there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his friends. Not having much himself, he worked so hard just to make the lives of the people around him more joyful. And that was a lot of people. From humble beginnings to big firm lawyer, a life with insane obstacles, no one doubted his competitive drive to succeed against the odds. I don’t know anyone else more deserving of good fortune but fair, life is not. A true legend of our generation, you have inspired the masses and will be missed by as many.
I am so saddened by the loss of such an amazing person. I will never forget his personality and humour. My family and I will always remember Jess’ trip to our family cabin! Everyone loved him and his law school friends. I think it was the first time anyone had seen a hammock tent LOL.
Jess touched the lives of countless people and is an inspiration. He is someone who inspired me to pursue law school. I only hope that I can achieve what Jess has at such a young age.
Jess has been so very easy to love, Tana, ever since Eric brought him home after school one day in grade 6. They were too cool for their own good in junior high (haha) and they were fantastic teammates on the ball field and in school sports. What a great friendship they have been so fortunate to have had. Jess has left a permanent mark on so many of our family traditions and get togethers. We have shed so many tears but have also smiled so often and cracked up laughing at the wonderful memories we share with a one of a kind guy!! He will be remembered always and dearly missed by the whole Buckley clan.
Jess was a kind, loving, outgoing person who brought joy to the people he interacted with. I was lucky to know him in high school, where he was remarkably mature and always friendly. Love and condolences to Jess's family and friends.
My entire family knew Jess through Centennial Little League. My son, Brian, played on the same team, I coached Jess and my other two sons and I umpired while he coached. Such an incredible man and always the role model for his players. I always enjoyed catching up with him before or after the game. What a loss for his family and for our community. i
We're all so very saddened that Jess has passed away. He overcame so much growing up. What a nice boy he was and what a beautiful man he became. Smart, handsome, outgoing and above all kind. We are in awe of Jess....he accomplished and overcame so much in his very short time with us on earth. Whenever we went to the Shuswap, the first thing we'd ask is when are Jess and Teagan coming up. Words just don't seem to be enough right now. Sending all of you our love.
