Obituary of Raymond BOSCH

August 17, 1947 – Oyen, Alberta December 2, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Ray Bosch, husband, father, (extremely proud) grandfather passed away at the South Health Campus after a prolonged battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the age of 70 years. Ray, an avid reader, skier, camper, golfer, advisor, history enthusiast, swimmer, and gardener, loved bringing flowers to his beloved wife, soaking in his hot tub, long road trips in his cherished Mustang, and had an affinity for hot dog cook outs in the rain. Ray was competitive, funny, compassionate, and driven. He worked in the Oil and Gas industry for almost thirty-five years, including thirty years at Imperial Oil as a Crude Oil Marketer. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7432 where he served as Deputy Grand Knight in 1993 – 94 and Grand Knight in 1994 – 95 when his Council was awarded Council of the Year. Following his retirement, Ray volunteered at Alberta Golf as a Golf Course Rater for five years and recently began volunteering at Louise Dean School as a Baby Cuddler, which should not surprise anyone with a baby who met Ray. Ray is survived by his much-loved wife of forty-four years, Trish; his three children, Jeff, Greg (Karin), and Joanne (Alex); his two precious grandsons, Travis and Landon; and his seven siblings, Theresa, Kathleen, Millie, Linda, Steve, Gerard, and Mary Ann. He was predeceased by his parents Tony and Gertie and brother Kenneth. Ray had the utmost respect for Dr. Charlene Fell and Kirk Mathison for their tireless care and compassion during the four years of his IPF treatment. He felt most fortunate to have been a patient of theirs. Ray’s family would also like to thank and recognize the nursing staff and respiratory therapists associated with Ward 66 at the South Health Campus who ensured his final days were as comfortable and manageable as possible. Memorial tributes may be made in memory of Ray to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (47 Squire Bakers Lane, Markham, Ont. L3P 3G8, Attn: Calgary Chapter), Tel: 1-905-294-7645, www.cpff.ca.
