Obituary of Darinka RISING

July 31, 1935 – Van Houten, New Mexico

February 21, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

 

Darinka Rising of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the age of 85 years.

 

Darinka was born in Van Houten, New Mexico on July 31, 1935.

 

Darinka graduated from New Mexico Tech with a BSc in Chemistry in 1957. She immigrated to Canada in 1965 and became a citizen later in life.

 

She worked as a Teacher’s Aide and Laboratory instructor at Bishop Carroll Senior High School, Alberta Vocational Centre and Athabasca University. It brought her great joy to work with students and help them along their path of life.

 

Darinka was a loving mother, daughter, sister, friend and a caring woman.  A life filled with happiness and times of great despair. She is at peace now and resting with family.

 

Darinka is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Janis Rising of Victoria, BC. She is also survived by nephew Michael Raicevich, niece Debbie Boyd and niece Sherry Snedeker of the United States.

 

Darinka was predeceased by son Phillip Andrew Rising, parents Milos and Angie Raicevich, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Charlene Raicevich and former husband Richard Rising.

 

Darinka spent the last five years of her life at the Providence Care Centre, Calgary. During her time there, she was comforted and cared for by staff that treated her like family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Providence Care Centre, http://www.flccfoundation.ca/.
