Dear Mom, there you’d be so often, with your welcoming smile, as we came home. On this Sunday that also marks Darrel’s death, in this covid drenched year of 2021, in the middle of Lent, with its ongoing border restrictions, curfews, and promises of vaccines on the way, both of you remain in our memories and hearts. Our households wanted again to acknowledge how great a Mom you’ve been to us. Thank you for being our Mom, and being there for us always, and for extended families. We love you. You are in our hearts and more. We miss you. May our hearts remain soft until, with so many others too, we meet again by God’s grace, sovereignty and holy mysteries. With love always, from our households.
(Romans 8:37-39)
Yes, Gillian...Betty had that sense of humour...it has got us through some of the tough times...
Betty you liked us to pose and you would too!..Betty obviously liked to sample the pickles...even at church luncheons...,and I’m not sure who she was teasing in that first pic!.
Gillian and Julie the last two pics are Gramma and Grampa McIelwain’s 60th wedding anniversary...and our Mom was so excited about the limousine ride, so her three wonderful children...Betty, Bob and Bev decided to give the sweethearts some privacy on the ride to supper....the Chauffeur took our picture...we attempted to look very bored during the short stop...
.., Betty, you always made the best of your visits ‘ home’...
