Obituary of Marie Olga MINAILO (nee Malinski)

February 22, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

Marie Minailo, beloved wife of Michael (Mike) Minailo, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 87 years.

Marie was born in Edmonton on March 8, 1933. She was raised in Vegreville, AB by her parents along with her five siblings. Upon completing school in Vegreville, Marie worked for the Edmonton News and after moving to Calgary she was employed by Woodwards. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for fifty years, a member of the Catholic Women’s League for sixty years and President of Calgary Women’s Canadian Club. Marie volunteered at Spruce Meadows and at Calgary Performing Arts. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, golfing and socializing. Marie travelled to the Orient with friends. She and Mike toured Europe and the United States and took a number of cruises around the world and even crossed the Panama Canal. They spent many winters in Palm Springs and surrounding areas of Southern California golfing and visiting with friends, children and grandchildren in the United States.  

Besides her best friend and loving husband of sixty seven years, Michael (Mike), Marie is survived by her daughter Michele, son Michael, grandchildren Mia Jefferson, Alberta Hill, Makena Minailo and Kaia Minailo; sisters, Janice (Marv) Talaga, Carol (Ciochetti); brothers, Edward and Nester (Sylvia) Malinski; and many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Kate Malinski and sister Lillian (Karpetz).
