Obituary of Sadie Wilson KEEGAN (nee Rooney)

September 7, 1931 – Glasgow, Scotland

February 24, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Sadie Keegan, of Calgary, AB, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, just a few months shy of her 90th birthday.

Sadie was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and immigrated to Canada with her husband Robert and daughter Joanne in 1969. Sadie was a wonderful mother to daughters, Joanne, and Sharon. Once she returned to work, she was a valued employee of Honeysett Door Services. In 1984, Sadie and the family moved to Melbourne, Australia, where she was Chief Accountant at the Canadian Consulate. Upon returning to Canada three years later, Sadie worked at Calgary Co-op #5 in the Customer Service office, where she remained until her retirement.

Sadie is survived by her daughters, Joanne, and Sharon; her brother Dr. David Rooney (Agnes), and sister-in-law Leila Rooney, all of Scotland; as well as brother-in-law Alexander Keegan (Linda) of Australia, and numerous nieces and nephews around the world.

Sadie was predeceased by her loving husband of forty-five years, Robert, her mother and father, Johanna and Peter Rooney, brothers, Andrew, Archibald (Archie), and Thomas; and sister Elizabeth (Betty).

A Private Funeral Service will be held, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. For those who are unable to attend due to Covid restrictions, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, for family and friends when it is safe to gather. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made directly to St. Luke’s Anglican Church at 2951 26 Ave S.E., Calgary, AB T2B 2P2.

The Family would like to say a special thank you to the first responders and nurses on Unit 91 at the Foothills Hospital for taking such good care of mum in her final days; and to Rev. Gordon Pontifex for his love and support of Joanne and Sharon.

In living memory of Sadie Keegan, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area
