Obituary of Owen Sutherland ZUCCHELLI

October 21, 2001 – Calgary, Alberta
March 2, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Owen Sutherland Zucchelli of Calgary, AB, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the age of 19 years.

Owen is survived by his parents, David and Sue Zucchelli, and his siblings, Maya, Evan, Lilly, and Tulia Zucchelli, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his grandparents, Abe and Denise Pauls, of Chilliwack, BC and Steve and Sandra McGreer, of Calgary. He is loved by countless cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who all are heartbroken with his passing.

Owen was born in Calgary, AB, on October 21, 2001. He was the middle child and adored by his siblings. His funny nature was beautifully balanced by his quiet presence.

Owen had challenges in junior high school but persevered to turn that around, even taking summer school, voluntarily. He often set very high goals for himself whether it was with school, reading, or health and fitness. He had even been known to play an entire video game without leveling up.

He graduated from Bishop O’Byrne High School in 2019 and was currently attending the University of Calgary.  He was on his way to obtaining a degree in math, with the ultimate goal of becoming a high school math teacher.

Owen was a born minimalist. He only wanted things that were necessary and didn’t need any of the extras. He loved to read and watch movies, the more obscure the movie, the better. He had a passion to endlessly analyze movies. Owen also loved being out in nature and often took walks in Fish Creek Park.

Owen was quiet by nature but never afraid to speak his mind. He was known to speak up and assert his opinions when he felt was important or he had a different point of view.  He often surprised us with how witty he could be. We miss him terribly!

A Private Viewing is being held by invitation only. Another Celebration of Owen’s Life will be held in the summer when those who knew and loved him can gather safely.

“Bye, I love you, Bye” - Owen
