Obituary of Saverio TUMATO

September 1, 1932 - March 3, 2021

Saverio Tumato, beloved husband of Giulia Tumato (nee D'Anzica) of West Kelowna, BC, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the age of 88 years.

Saverio was born in Scisciano, Napoli, Italy. At eighteen years old, he became a Carabinieri and served for six years. In 1956 he immigrated to Canada and married Giulia D'Anzica shortly thereafter. They had three beautiful children - Pasquale, Angelo, and Giovanna.

Saverio and Giulia opened their first Italian grocery store in Bridgeland and ran it successfully for nearly twenty years. During this time, they also found their love and passion for fishing, hunting, and camping. Family was everything to him, and he protected them to no end. Gardening became a hobby for Saverio, and he created the most beautiful masterpiece and best vino in West Kelowna, where he resided for the last thirty years. He loved sharing stories, enlightening us with his infinite wisdom and knowledge. His memories will live on through his family forever.

Saverio is survived by his loving wife Giulia, daughter Giovanna (Gennaro), grandchildren, Saverio (Irene), Sophia, Teresa, Pasquale, Julia, Elizabeth, and Leigh-Anne; seven great-grandchildren, brothers, Pietro, Jim (Cristine), and Francesco (Sandhya); sister Filomena (Aniello), and brother-in-law Antonio (Carella). He was predeceased by his two sons, Pasquale and Angelo; sisters, Giuseppina and Orsola; sister-in-law Elisabetta, and brother-in-law Raffaele.
