Obituary of Anthony (Tony) MATERI

December 11, 1939 – Macklin, Saskatchewan
March 8, 2021– Calgary, Alberta

Anthony Materi of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the age of 81 years.

The youngest of thirteen, Tony was born on December 11, 1939 to Anton and Anastasia Materi. He married Cheryl Lynn Graham on June 21, 1973 and together they raised three daughters, Crystal, Leticia and Sandy.

Everything Tony did was for the love of his family. He worked hard to provide them with everything they needed. He always looked forward to family gatherings, especially at Christmas when he made the best stuffing anyone ever tasted. Although this past year made it difficult for him to see family as much as he wanted, we are grateful for the warm Sunday afternoon the day before he passed away when family was able to sit outside in the sun with him to visit.  He was kind, generous and loved beyond words.

Tony is survived by his wife Cheryl, three daughters, Crystal Preston, Leticia Materi and Sandy Materi; five grandchildren, Shane (Dana) Preston, Andrew Preston, Kirsten Materi, Aidan Paddock, and Abbey Paddock; and four great-grandchildren, Samantha Preston, Carter Preston, Harper Preston and Nixon Preston. He is also survived by his two brothers, Frank Materi and Ted Materi.
