Obituary of Mack Fread HARDEE

January 14, 1940 – Homestead, Florida, USA
March 5, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mack Fread Hardee in Calgary, AB, on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the age of 81.

He was born on January 14, 1940 in Homestead Florida, USA to Parents Mack and Gerda Hardee. In early life Mack served in the United States Coast Guard. He eventually became a Glazier and worked in the commercial glass industry. He moved to Calgary where he worked at Future Glass for many years. He met Evelyn in Calgary and they were married in Las Vegas on February 15, 2000. Mack had a passion for flying. He had his own airplane and flew for pleasure for many years.  He was also an active man, enjoying walks with Evelyn, golf, waterskiing, and tennis. In fact Mack won a silver medal in tennis at the Alberta Senior games in 2007. Mack enjoyed going for coffee and outings with his friends, Gerry Klein, Wally Friesen, Merv Goodsman, Tom Holland, and Steve Gibson.  He had many good qualities but the one that sticks out the most was his sense of humour and his perfectly timed one-liners.  Mack will be truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-one years Evelyn, son Greg Hardee, daughter Angie Hardee, stepsons, Pat Redmond, Kevin Redmond, and Paul Redmond; four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, his sister Nancy Loudy, and many step-nieces and step-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Carol, his nephew Rodney, and stepson John Redmond.

Many thanks to the staff at the Mayfair Seniors Home for their compassion and making Mack’s last few months comfortable. Also thanks to the doctors and nurses of Unit #72 at the Rockyview General Hospital for their care in making Mack’s final days dignified and peaceful.
