Obituary of Edwin Hubert WELLINGTON

April 5, 1934 – Olds, Alberta
March 8, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

We are so grateful to have had 86 wonderful years with Edwin Wellington who we said goodbye to on Monday, March 8, 2021. Ed was our hero, partner, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and great friend. Dearly loved and respected by many.

Ed was born April 5, 1934 in Olds, AB. He enjoyed most of his young life there, surrounded by family and friends. He was passionate about hockey and curling, playing both in his younger years and watching it on TV.  He loved camping and fishing. He also loved to fix things. He was an Electrical Technologist by trade so anything that involved detail and problem solving was right up his alley. We called on him often when needed and he would be there before you could hang up the phone. He also had a passion for Genealogy which he spent a great deal of time on, creating an incredible family tree.

Ed was a kind and loving partner to Barbara Gordon who came into his life twenty-one years ago, he was lucky to have her in his life until they said goodbye on his last day with us. They loved to travel together, spend time gardening, and just enjoy each other’s company every day, they were inseparable. He was predeceased by Geraldine Devolin, the mother of his three children, who passed many years ago. He was a great dad, all three of us had our moments in life but he loved us unconditionally. Always participating in the things we wanted to do, coaching sports and coming out to watch us do what we loved. Ed was also fortunate to have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren that he loved and adored. He had a wonderful blended family of three children, ten grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

Ed worked at Nova for many, many years. He loved his job and made a lot of amazing lifelong friends throughout the years. He always enjoyed the luncheons and seeing everyone after he retired.

Ed is survived by his partner Barbara Gordon; his children, Heather (Kelly Nickel), Brad Wellington, Leanne (Tyler Wamboldt); his four grandchildren, Landon Nickel (Julia Stangeland) Nikky Paskin (Chris Paskin) Aven and Quinn Wamboldt; and his four great-grandchildren, Aliya and Nathan Nickel, Kailey and Blake Paskin. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine Devolin.
