Betty Dickey, beloved wife of Thomas James (Jim) Dickey, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the age of 90 years.

Betty was born in Simcoe County, ON, on September 20, 1930. She was one of ten siblings raised on the Prosser farm.

Betty met Jim and became engaged on Valentine’s Day seventy one years ago, and later married in the town of Stayner ON, on October 20, 1951.  They were then transferred to Calgary in 1959.

She was a charter member of the Friendship Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and past Queen of Sakkara Temple No.115 Daughters of the Nile. Betty loved to participate in different groups through the Shriner’s. She was also a great “Mom” to many of the Order of Demolay and Job’s Daughters.

She made many quilts for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, and even won an award for a family heirloom quilt entered at Heritage Park. She also enjoyed knitting special memorable things for her grandchildren.

Betty and Jim had a love of camping and travelling to many wonderful places together and with wonderful friends.

Besides her loving husband Jim, Betty is survived by her son David, daughter Anne and son-in-law Dean, grandchildren Lindsay (Travis), Mark, Jessica (Sean) and John (Alex) and her great grandsons.

Betty is also survived by her sisters Anne Hanna (Jim), and June Cuculick.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and management at Swan Evergreen Village by Origin for the wonderful care they gave to Betty. Thanks also to the nursing staff on unit 72 at the Foothills Hospital.
