Obituary of Verna LINDHOLM

March 28, 1933 – Camrose, Alberta
March 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Verna Margaret Lindholm of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the age of 87 years.

Verna was born March 28, 1933 in Camrose, AB. She lived on the family farm in Bittern Lake until a move into Camrose in the late 1940s. After graduating from high school Verna followed her beloved sister Eleanor to Toronto with the intention of becoming a nurse - but a bout of scarlet fever saw her return to Camrose. She completed an education degree at the University of Alberta and her favourite story was that she taught at one of the last two “One room schoolhouses” in Alberta. Mom was married in 1955, and raised six energetic farm kids in New Norway. She taught painting classes throughout the local communities. She divorced in 1992, and launched into several ventures including Verna’s Studio Teahouse, and a stint in local Bittern Lake politics as the town mayor. She had a deep love of nature and spent uncountable hours riding her bike in the Camrose area. Her last years unfolded in the excellent care of St. Teresa’s Place in Calgary.

She leaves behind her loving family to mourn and celebrate her life, Terry (Brenda), Rick (Diane), Gladys (Dug), Heather (Greg), Audrey (Ian), and Chris; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her much loved sisters, Bernice, Eleanor, and Patricia.
