Davis MACLEAN

Obituary of Davis Paul MACLEAN

May 12, 1982- Calgary, Alberta
March 12, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Davis Maclean, of Calgary, AB, beloved son of Renee Martin and Ken Maclean of Kaleden, BC and dear grandson of Eileen Maclean of New Westminster, BC, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, at the age of 38 years.

Davis loved the outdoors and travelling, especially to snorkelling destinations; some of his favourite places to travel included Fiji, the Great Barrier Reef and the Galapagos. The photo above is of Davis at the top of Waina Picchu, overlooking Machu Picchu. He was an accomplished hunter, sommelier, guitar player and disc golfer.

Davis was born into an extended family of food lovers. He became an excellent cook, starting with cooking the entire family dinner at the age of six every Thursday with his brother Kyle. These were never simple kid meals but instead evolved into explorations of exotic cuisines

Davis will be most remembered for his hearty laugh and his outgoing personality. He was always the life of the party.

Davis will be greatly missed by his two brothers and their families, Kyle, Janet, Eileen and Ewan Maclean, of Calgary, AB; and Loren, Vicky, Madeline and Bowen Maclean, of Port Coquitlam, BC. He will also be missed by his many relatives, aunt Nanci Suuban, sons, Russell and Eric Fountain, of Nelson and Kamloops, BC; aunt Heather Fowler, husband Peter Fowler and son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Donna Maclean, of Burnaby, BC; aunt Kim van Gestel, husband Jan and daughter Fione van Gestel, of The Netherlands; great-aunt Asta Valvur, and cousins, Susan Vanaselja, Kenneth Valvur and Annemarie Leis and their children of Toronto, ON as well as many relatives in Estonia. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Daisy Aesma and Paul Suuban; his step-grandfather Manivalde Aesma, and paternal grandfather Ken Maclean.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is safe for us to do so in a manner befitting Davis (sharing wine, hugs and food). Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.

In living memory of Davis Maclean, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
