Obituary of Eric John MORRIS

January 16, 1926 – London, England

March 12, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Eric Morris of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the age of 95 years surrounded by family.

Eric was born in London, England in 1926 and immigrated to Canada with his young family in 1956 coming directly to Calgary. He served in the Royal Air Force for four years during World War II. Eric became a Chartered Accountant in 1960, receiving his Fellow of Chartered Accountant (FCA) in 1991. Over sixty years, Eric was a respected CA with a distinguished career in a range of small, medium and large businesses. Eric believed in community service, serving as Calgary president, provincial president and national president of the Canadian Mental Health Association which earned him the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal for service to the community in 1977. He also served as committee chairman for numerous committees with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. Eric enjoyed spending time with his family, taking his granddaughters on a cruise and his grandson to several airshows. He loved to travel, going on sixteen cruises with Connie. He received his recreational pilot’s license in Calgary and he was a member of the Willow Park Golf and Country club for many years. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than a good dessert. 

Eric will be greatly missed by his wife of seventy-two years, Connie, his children, Penny Hume and Chris Morris; grandchildren, Sarah Ferguson (John), Kate Hume (Calvin Ziganash) and David Hume; and great-grandchildren, Jakob and Willow Ferguson.
