Obituary of Rose Katherine FRAYN (nee Nieckarz)

September 27, 1932 – Rama, Saskatchewan

March 13, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rose Frayn, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of Calgary, AB, on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

Rose was born in Rama, Saskatchewan, on September 27, 1932. She moved to Calgary when she was 21 to be with her brother Henry, who was there with his family. There she met and married Richard Frayn, with whom she had five children that she raised and was devoted to. In 1989 Rose moved to Manitoba to work as a housekeeper for the priests, she worked tirelessly until her health forced her to resign.

She returned to Calgary to be close to her family and care for her health in her senior years. She loved to laugh, loved her family and her time spent her church family. She was kind to everyone she met and tried to be helpful in anyway she could to those around her. She was happiest if she was helping people and keeping busy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me, although he be dead, shall live, and everyone that liveth and believeth in me shall not die.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Deborah Shier (Carl), Marilyn Wong (Barry) and Barbara Frayn; daughter-in-law Ellen Frayn; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Rose is also survived by her brothers Metro (Larry) and Frank, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rose was predeceased by her sons, Richard Paul and Michael Stanley; her granddaughter Natalie and great-grandson Easton; her parents, Catherine and Andrew Nieckarz; brothers, Paul and Henry and her sisters, Stella, Janet, Edna, Julia, Mary, Lucy and Emily.

A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated St. Dennis Church (4718 Worcester Dr SW Calgary, AB) on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 12:30 P.M.  Graveside Service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace.  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Rose’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
