Allan David William Andrews of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

Allan Andrews of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the age of 86 years. Allan was born in London, England, where he met the love of his life, Jean. Allan was welcomed into her family and soon became a much loved member. Allan and Jean not only had two children of their own, Gary and Yvonne, but Jean’s younger siblings, Michael and Christine were as big a part of the family as his own children.

Allan had a love of English football or soccer in Canada, being an avid supporter of the Arsenal team for 75 years. The family immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1973, where Allan worked for the public school board in the furniture repair department until his retirement.

Allan was a true gentleman who was loved by many who met him, he was kind and gentle with a great ability to be the subject of a bit of teasing, which he handled with grace and fun. Allan was famous for his “Big Al Burgers” as well as his BBQ salmon, which his family all looked forward to devouring. Sharing food and drink with others brought Allan great joy from home celebrations, dining out to sharing a “Darling Buds of May” dinner on the beach at Salmon Arm.

Allan is going to be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbours, shopkeepers, coffee shop staff and so many more whose hearts he touched.

Allan is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Jean; his son Gary (Susan), daughter Yvonne (Simon); four grandchildren, Tristan, Nadine, Nigel and Hillary; two great-grandchildren, Desmond and Emily. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Michael (Glenda),  sister-in-law Christine (Brad); his nieces and nephews, Caroline, Simon,  Christopher, Kent, Kit and Toad; as well as close family friends, Len and Judy and the boys, Vera and the girls, Gladys and the boys, along with a few remaining family members in England.
