Obituary of Winnie “Ena” FRANCIS

July 15, 1927 – Morley, Alberta

March 18, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Winnie Francis was called home by our Creator on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the age of 93 years.

Ena was a respected and humble elder, who valued the traditional ways of life, she valued and believed in the Sundances. She supported her late husband Jensen in traditional ceremonies; Winnie loved to travel to Round dances and Pow Wows. She enjoyed watching sports, sewing, spending time with her family, and camping. She worked at the Morley community school as a custodian for over thirty years. Those who knew Ena will sadly miss her.

Winnie is survived by her sons Benny (Myrna) and Rod Hunter (Emily); granddaughters Arcilla, and Charmayne; grandsons Clint Kootenay and Nicholas Megunis (Jessica);  and great-grandchildren Cecila, Conroy, Renee, Skaia, Osha, Blu and Meilani; nephews Farrel (Jennifer), Mark (Pricella), BR (Angela), Levi (Nora), Rickie Simeon; nieces Sheila (Ronald), Margaret (Evan), Glenna Holloway, Donna Holloway, Gayleen (Frank), Doyletta (Leon), Laureen (Darryl), Pearl (Bradley); relatives from Morley, Eden Valley, Big Horn, Pigeon Lake and Maskwacis. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Winnie was predeceased by her husband Jensen Francis in 2004; sons, Charles Francis in 2019 and Terry Francis in 1995; daughter Marilyn Twoyoungmen; her grandson Selwyn Twoyoungmen in 2016; her sisters Eliza Holloway in 2016, Alice Twoyoungmen in 2017 and May Amos in 2004, Lucy Poucette in 2013; her brothers Albert Amos, and Dick Amos

A visitation will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Winnie’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
