Obituary of Frances Lillian “Soyitapiaaki” WOLFLEG

February 8, 1951 – Siksika, Alberta

March 19, 2021- Calgary, Alberta

It is with heartfelt loss that we announce the passing of our beautiful Frances (Fran) Wolfleg of Siksika Nation, on Friday, March 19, 2021 at the age of 70 years.

Our beautiful Frances (Fran) as many knew her as was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, sister-in-law, teacher and friend.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Clarence Wolfleg Sr. (Agar as many know him as); her children, Skip (Sherry), Scott (late carmen Turning Robe), Karlee (Lucas), Antonia, and Ronalda; adopted children, Mary McDonald, Wesley Spotted Eagle, Leah and Jordan Big Plume, Kyle and Shane Hoof; her grandchildren, River, Summer, Jadon, Harlyn, Diamond, King, Late B.J, Alkiah, Kai Matthew, Laney, Shade, Jovian, and Zas; siblings, Scotty (Wanda) Many Guns, Rosaria (Allan) Wolfleg, Dean (Rowena) Many Guns, Arlene Many Guns, Aaron (Dale) Many Guns, George (Collete) Many Guns and Kelly (Ron) Many Guns.  Also survived by her uncles and aunts, Albert Many Bears, Jerry Black Horse, Floyd Running Rabbit, Flora Whitney, Margorie Many Guns, Evelyn Many Guns and Beverly Runner; sisters-in-law, Alvine (Spike) Wolfleg, Colleen Sitting Eagle, Madeline Wolfleg, June Wolfleg; brother-in-law, Butch Wolfleg; as well as all her nieces and nephews. Fran also has relatives from the families of the Many Bears, Many Guns, Melting Tallow, Wolfleg, Many Heads, Yellow Fly, Poor Eagle, Cutter, Rabbit Carrier, Bull Bear, Red Gun, Big Snake, Crowfoot, Fox and the Three Suns. If we missed anyone we apologize as Fran had many relatives.

Fran was raised by her grandparents, Tom and Josette (Melting Tallow) Many Guns, in Siksika along with her cousin/sister Eulalia Running Rabbit, until her grand mother’s passing. Fran’s education included attending Crowfoot Day School, Arrowwood School, Drumheller and Bishop Grandin High Schools, and University of Calgary. Fran had many highlights and accomplishments in her life this included, marrying the love of her life Agar, obtaining her bachelors of education degree, and receiving her black belt in Tai Kwan Do. She was very athletic right up to her passing and was super fan of the Calgary Flames. Fran had a strong passion for education, encouraging everyone she loved to excel in higher learning, as she believed it was especially important. She prided herself as an instructor at the Old Sun College for many years, and later enjoyed teaching youth at the Siksika High School until her passing. Fran loved to travel, she always reminisced about her favorite vacation spot, Hawaii. Fran loved music, especially the Bee Gee’s and Bob Segar, she needed music to sleep. Fran volunteered her time wherever she was needed, she was apart of many associations including the Blackfoot Rodeo club. Fran showered everyone she adored with unconditional love, she made everyone feel special and was the “glue” to her family.

Fran was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Cecile Many Guns; maternal grandparents, Lyndon and Dorothy Many Bears; paternal grandparents, Tom and Josette (Melting Tallow) Many Guns; her precious Granddaughter Tahlia, Mother and father in-law Mark Sr. and Margaret Wolfleg; her brother, Darren Many Guns; daughter-in-law Carmen: her nieces and nephews, Jamie, Todd, and Ajay. Fran was also predeceased by her aunties and uncles; Cecilia Many Heads, Marie Many Bears, Theresa and Art Yellow Fly, Yvonne Black Horse, Edmund and Jean Many Bears, Jim and Alice Many Bears, Damien Many Bears, Phillip and Lilly Many Bears, Clifford and Rosaline Many Guns, Tom (Frenchy) Many Guns, and Carl Many Guns Sr.; and great-aunties Beatrice (Joe) Poor Eagle and Margaret Bad Boy.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the South Health Campus Hospital staff for the special care they provided to our beautiful Fran and the support they provided to the family during their difficult time.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Jennette (Jinx) ManyGuns (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held at Holy Trinity Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Chicago Cemetery (Gleichen, AB).
