July 29, 1944 - Ilidza, Bosnia

March 18, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Vladimir Miklausevic, beloved husband of Milena Miklausevic (nee Panic) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at the age of 76 years old.

Vladimir always had a strong connection with his family and valued them through everything he did in his lifetime. He is survived by his wife Milena and their two children, Monika and Gordan; daughter-in-law Barbara; grandchildren, Emma and Robert; brother Branislav, and his numerous distant family members. His kind-hearted, loving and generous nature will be greatly missed and remembered by all of his loved ones.

Born in Ilidza, Bosnia, on July 29, 1944, Vladimir moved to Slovenia in 1992 due to the civil war in Former Yugoslavia. Five years later, he and his family immigrated to Canada, where he lived happily in Calgary until his passing.

At a young age, Vladimir discovered his love and passion for the game of soccer. Throughout his youth, he tirelessly practiced soccer alone and with his friends in order to build his skill in the sport. Later on in his twenties, he played for various Bosnian teams such as Bosnia in Sarajevo, Igman in Ilidza and Sloga in Doboj. He continued this until he adopted the position of soccer coach for the team Sloga in Doboj, this is when his twenty-year journey as a professional soccer coach began. After coaching in Doboj, he was recruited as a coach for Sloga in Gornji Vakuf. Throughout the time in which he coached this team, he had a tremendous impact on the success and happiness of the city in regards to soccer. He led the team to countless victories and brought the small city to a greatly higher competitive level. To this day, he is still respected, valued and appreciated by the people who he coached and everyone whose life has been impacted by his coaching.

Selfless, positive and strong, Vladimir always did his best to be there for others whenever they needed it. He will always be remembered as the loving grandpa who gave his grandchildren his Toyota Yaris so they could learn how to drive. The impactful and inspirational coach who restored pride back into a city soccer team. The man who lived a happy nineteen years with heart disease and never failed to keep a smile on his face even in the hardest moments. It is clear to see that Vladimir left behind an impactful legacy that will be talked about for many generations to come. The light which he brought to all of our lives will be greatly missed.
