Lyla Bateman, was born to Wellington and Ella Mae Gibson on June 10, 1922 in Kendal, SK. She concluded her life’s journey peacefully, Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Chinook Care Hospice in Calgary, AB at the age of 98 years.

Lyla married the love of her life, Kenneth William Bateman October 1946 in Regina, SK, with their union being blessed with two sons, Wayne and Kevin.

Lyla had a blessed life and was particularly proud of her family, art and crafting and a lifetime of volunteering; some thirty-five years dedicated to the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxilliary.

Lyla had a passion for sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress, developing a home-based business which she worked at for many-years. Her most memorable vacation was cruising the Caribbean with Ken her husband.

Lyla’s favourite genre was Country and Western music, and she spent many enjoyable years dancing to just about any music.

She taught her sons to be kind to animals and to always respect people. Lyla was a kind compassionate person, she had a strong sense of community, and a love for her family and friends. Most of all Lyla loved to have fun, and from time to time a Caesar cocktail to celebrate whatever.

Lyla is survived by her son Wayne Bateman and daughter-in-law Lynette of Victoria, BC; three grandchildren, Ryder (Fairone), Haley (Ty), and Casey (finance Grayson); and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Henley all reside on Vancouver Island.
