Obituary of Ella May BRADLEY

May 29, 1931 – Minitonas, Manitoba

March 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Ella Bradley passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the age of 89 years.

Ella was born in Minitonas, Manitoba, the daughter of Margaret and George Grindle. She was a farm girl and outlived all her eleven siblings. After school she moved to Winnipeg.  She met the love of her life, James “Barry” in Northern Manitoba when she was in a ball tournament and he was on a remote canoe trip. They were married in Winnipeg in 1954 enjoying 57 loving years together until Barry’s passing in 2011. In 1957 they moved to Montreal for Barry to start his aeronautical career and each of their three children were born there. In 1965 the family settled in Calgary.

Ella was an accomplished artist and loved the outdoors. She and Barry spent many years as members of the Cu Nim Gliding Club and when Barry was flying, Ella managed the social side and had many friends at the field in Black Diamond. After retirement, the snowbird adventure took them to Yuma, Arizona for almost twenty years and the summers were spent in Black Diamond and Okotoks. Ella’s widowed years were spent back in Calgary where she had many friends at Manor Village and Garrison Green.

Ella will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dave (Marsha), Mike (Karen) and Carla (Paul) who were able to be at her side for much of the last few days of her life. As well as her grandchildren, Amanda (Pedro), Cole and Keira along with her only great-grandchild, Sienna, will miss her warm and smiling face.
