Obituary of Frances (Fran) Evelyn MILLER

June 2, 1931 - Turtle Creek, New Brunswick

March 26, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Frances Evelyn Miller (nee Steeves) went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the age of 89 years. Fran's childhood was spent on the family farm in Meadow, Albert County, NB. She left to go to Elgin for further schooling at fourteen years of age. Mom and Dad met a few years later, married in 1953 and made the first of their moves with the Air Force to various Canadian bases. She worked most of her life in customer service roles, starting at Eaton's in Moncton, NB with her final position being at Sears in Calgary from which she retired.

Fran had an abundance of musical talent including singing, playing the piano and guitar, all without formal training. She loved expressing her appreciation of style and beauty in decorating her home, choosing her wardrobe and all aspects of her life. She was a meticulous housekeeper and a fantastic cook. Mom enjoyed going on special trips with Dad, the highlights of which included cruises and visits to La Jolla CA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren.

Fran is survived by her daughters, Karen (Herb) and Robin; her grandchildren, Morgan and Rhys; her brother Art, her sister Rita (Arnold) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, her parents, and her sister Erma.

A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. 

In living memory of Frances Miller, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
