Obituary of Marty Ferlin BEARSPAW

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Marty Bearspaw, our beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law, and friend to many who knew him near and far. 

Marty was born on July 28, 1956 and was called home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 64. Marty was educated in Morley, Exshaw, and Springbank Schools. Marty was employed by Tawow for numerous years. He also worked for Red Cross, flood recovery, and was employed by the Stoney Public Works at the time of his passing. 

Marty was a good friend to many who knew him. He opened his home and welcomed anyone who needed a place to stay. He was a humble and humorous character to all who knew him. He believed in his cultural and traditional values. Marty spent most of his time with family and friends playing card games and pool. Marty had a hobby of collecting cans and bottles throughout the community. 

Marty leaves behind his two daughters, Breann and Starla; one special grandson Sasha (Aariah) whom he cherished so dearly, his siblings, Winnie (Ernie), Lloyd, Brenda (Morley), Charlene (Clarence), Buffy (John) Gilbert (Florene); half-siblings, Lori-Ann (Lawrence), and Bernadine. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Marty was predeceased by his wife Verna Wesley, daughter Chantel, parents, Roger and Gladys Bearspaw; grandparents, Hanson and Eunice Bearspaw, sisters, Alvina, Joyce, Beverly, Gwen, Evalina, Lily; brother Ivar, half-siblings, Herbert, Sidney, Peter, Karen; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Wednesday, March 31 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m..  Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Marty’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
