Obituary of Shirley Jean BONAZZO

June 5, 1935 - Fort William, Ontario

March 29, 2021 - Calgary, Alberta

Shirley Bonazzo, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021, at the age of 85 years.

She was born on June 5, 1935 to parents Gertrude and Maurice Coombes in Fort William, Ontario.  After graduating from Fort William Collegiate Institute, she married Laurence on June 11, 1954 and they went on to have three children, Judy, Larry and Rod.

Shirley spent years in the banking industry, first at CIBC then Scotiabank.  She, alongside her husband, owned and ran a convenience store before she made her way back to the bank and retired from Scotiabank in 1998.

During retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She loved walking with her dog and coffee with friends.  Shirley was happiest when she was around her children, grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren.  She took pleasure in hosting weekly family dinners, spending summers at the cottage on Eva lake and always enjoyed shopping, bringing her grandchildren home with new pets, and going out for leisurely meals where she was particularly fond of soup.

After spending most of her life in Thunder Bay she moved to Airdrie, Alberta to be close to her immediate family where she could enjoy their company and be cared for.

Shirley is survived, and will be dearly missed, by her sister Reta; children Judy, Larry and Rod; grandchildren Sheri, Mandy, Ryan, Sean, Kyle, Cory and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Teighlor, Jaycee, Arya and Brooks. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Terry, and husband Laurence.
