Obituary of Ralph Frederick ROUTLEDGE

September 23, 1923 – Montreal, Quebec November 15, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta “A little luck can take a guy a long way.” Ralph Frederick Routledge, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and gentleman, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 surrounded by loved ones at the Colonel Belcher. Ralph was born in Montreal, QC, and graduated from McGill University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was also a retired aircrew member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Ralph joined Imperial Oil in 1946 and retired as a senior executive in Calgary, in 1985 where he was always known for wearing a bow tie every working day of his life. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife Jeanne, whom he married on May 4, 1946. Together they shared a wonderful love affair for over forty-six years. Ralph is survived by his loving wife Pat, whom he married on August 6, 1993 and together they enjoyed family, music, golf and travelling for twenty-four years. Ralph is also survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Daphne Routledge of Edmonton, AB and Brian and Marie Routledge of Pittsburg, PA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Norm Slater of Sooke, BC, Kathy and Chris Corbett of Victoria, BC and Elizabeth and Doug Callbeck of Victoria, BC; his stepdaughter and her spouse Robyn and John Tyrrell of Calgary, AB; his three stepsons and their spouses, Kennedy and Alejandra Miller of Dallas, TX, Paul and Sherri Miller of Calgary, AB and James and Cari Miller of Scottsdale, AZ. He was adored by his eight grandchildren, Anna, Stephen, Bryan, Katie, Jarred, Jessica, Scott and Charlie; and two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Toprak. He was also adored by nine stepgrandchildren, Michael, Brendan, Alejandra, Tara, Travis, Kennedy, Brynn and Jack. He was a wonderful older brother to Anna Draper of Cambridge, ON, and a loving uncle to her children. Ralph always believed that we all have a guardian angel looking over us. With his luck, he will meet that angel that watched over him for the last ninety-four years. A private family celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at a later date.
