Obituary of Munshya Vincent LUBASI-LIBWESHYA

March 19, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Munshya Vincent Lubasi-Libweshya passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at the age of 35 years.

Munshya was born on April 26, 1985 in Nairobi, Kenya. He Graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in 2003.

Munshya enjoyed playing basketball, reading books and writing poetry.  Munshya’s proudest moment was the birth of his son Amaré-Maliq Bonnick. His most memorable vacation was a trip to Mombasa, Kenya, when he was 8 years old, and the St.Catherine’s Homecoming when he was 20. Munshya will be most remembered for his contagious smile, and his willingness to always help others.
His favourite quote was “For God So loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe that in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

Munshya is survived by Alexandra Greene, his son Amaré-Maliq Bonnick, mother Mbaita Libweshya of Calgary, AB; brother Chileshe of Calgary, AB; sister Mwitwa Holder; and Sean Smith of Bowmanville, ON. He is also survived by his nephews, Uriah, Arrel, Chanan, Kiva Chanda, Justyn Holder, and Nathaniel Smith; nieces Jayde, Mihaly Chanda, Laneisha Baskin; Mwango Mwape; as well as his dog Diora.  

Munshya was predeceased by his dog Chester, and hamster Picasso.

A Private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. 

In living memory of Munshya Lubasi-Libweshya, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
