Obituary of George Anthony RICHTER

May 14, 1946 - Calgary, Alberta
April 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

George Richter, beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age of 74 years.

George was born in Calgary, AB, on May 14, 1946 to Joan and Tony Richter. He worked for CP Rail for over forty years and in the past twenty years of his retirement, George had a very active social life. Whether it was the Shuffle Board league at the Bowness Legion, his senior’s golf league, or Friday Coffee Group with his CP Rail buddies, George was always on the go. Throughout his life, George was an avid curler, spending most days between North Hill Curling Club and Westwind’s Curling Rink. Up until the very end, the curling season was his favourite time of year (do not disturb during the Briar!) Next to curling, George was his family’s biggest cheerleader. From the time his kids, grandkids and nieces/nephews were little, to watching them play sports as adults, George never missed a ringette, fastball or hockey game.

George is survived by his daughter Charmaine and son-in-law Tim Butts and their children, Josh, Hailey, and Kaytlin (Winston); great-grandchildren, Mason and Camden; his son Michael and grandson, Blaine. Both George’s children and their families reside in Calgary.
George is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, of Calgary, AB, Ken and Vivian, parents to Chris (Mikki) and Candace (Evan); George’s other brother Bob lives in Kelowna, BC, and is the father to Rhonda, Janice, and Monica. George had numerous nieces, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends he considered family; all of whom he was incredibly proud of and talked of them often.

At this time no Funeral Service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be planned when the world is back to normal. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on George’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of George Richter, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
