Obituary of Shurli MacLEAN-BARON

June 4, 1942 – Jordan Bay, Nova Scotia
March 21, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Shurli MacLean-Baron, beloved wife of the late Raymond Baron, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the age of 78 years due to a Gastrointestinal Bleed.

Shurli was born in Jordan Bay, NS. She moved to Calgary in her early twenties, and her fascination with the Rocky Mountains kept her in this location all of her adult life.

She always had a passion for interior design, architecture, photography, and art. In 1985 she received her Interior Decorating and Design Diploma (with honours). Shortly after that, she created her own business, Interior Classic Designs, which was a rewarding experience for her.

Shurli developed a love and interest in cats of various breeds. She enjoyed the time she spent caring for and loving her cats, Laurie, Daniel, William, and Michael, who shared many years of her life.

Shurli always had a smile and a kind word for friends and strangers alike. She was extremely independent, kind, loving, generous, and spiritual.

The last years of her life were spent praying for others, studying, drawing, sketching, acrylic painting, and practicing photography.

She was a devout member of the congregation of St. James Anglican Church in Ranchlands.

She will be lovingly missed by her sisters, Mildred Beazley and Elizabeth Migel; nieces, Siobahn Migel, Charlotte (Stephen) Snow, Betty Anne Thomas, Diana (Wally) Sheward; nephews, David (Treena) (Austin) Redman, William (Susan) Walker, Doug (Denise) Thomas; brother-in-law Jack (Sharon) Baron, and many extended family and friends.

MacLean, special aunt Mildred Bower, uncle Hugh MacLean, grandfather Archibald MacLean, mother and father-in-law, Annie and Michael Baron, and sister-in-law, May Redman.
